Providing qualifications and skills in biblical and theological studies for those already holding tertiary qualifications, to enhance students service to the community.
The Graduate Certificate in Arts program is designed primarily for those who hold a tertiary qualification in a non-theological discipline and who wish to pursue a post-graduate qualification in Theology, and who are seeking skills in theological studies to enhance their professional work.
It is focused on biblical and theological studies so that students may learn the foundations, history and beliefs of the Christian faith, to integrate them into their life as a Christian working in a professional or vocational capacity, and to reflect on contemporary issues from a Christian perspective.
The program seeks to emphasise the development of academic ability in such a way that the graduate’s service to the community is enhanced. Students who enter the program from a BTh or equivalent cannot do units with content similar to those covered in their undergraduate studies. It consists of a total of 36 credit points (4 units).
Full-Time (Six months)
The GradCertArts can be completed in six months. The student is normally resident in Brisbane for this to be achieved.
Part-Time (Eighteen months)
Designed for those who are unable to be resident in Brisbane or who are unable to attend classes full-time.

Outcomes
On completion a student should be able to:
- display a foundational understanding of central issues in the subject areas of Biblical Studies and Theology
- be familiar with the basic primary and secondary literature of the specified theological discipline
- display an initial appreciation of the contribution of theological disciplines to understanding life experience and Church issues
- be able to respond in a theological manner to life experiences and Church issues.
Articulation to other Awards
Students are eligible to articulate to the Graduate Diploma of Arts or the Master of Arts, on completion of which students are required to surrender their Graduate Certificate in Arts.
