Research Programs

Excellence in Research Programs, with a personalised and flexible approach that is tailored to your requirements.

If you’re a postgraduate seeking a research degree in theological studies, NTC's partnership with the Australian University College of Divinity (AUCD) offers and avenue through which you may undertake this level of study. Although supervision of research may be facilitated by NTC's research-active faculty members, interested persons apply directly to the Australian University College of Divinity (AUCD) for research degrees.

This level of study is designed for men and women who are looking at furthering their knowledge and understanding of a theologically related discipline for either their personal growth or for a sustained career in ministry or education. For flexibility, the programs can be taken either part time or full time.

Australian University College of Divinity

NTC students may undertake Research Degrees through the Australian University College of Divinity; these include:

  • Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
  • Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
  • Doctor of Theology (ThD)

Following an interview with NTC's Director of Research, candidates communicate with the central office of the Australian University College of Divinity, who supply an enrolment application. Applicants then develop a provisional research proposal, which is submitted to the AUCD's Research Degree Committee for their approval. The application is provisional until the acceptance of the thesis proposal by the Research Degree Committee. Once accepted, candidates are assigned a primary and secondary supervisor who oversee the candidate's progress through the research degree.

  1. I am thrilled by the opportunities I received at NTC, particularly the chance to tailor my studies to the areas I was specifically interested in. This ‘tailoring’ was expertly overseen by the academic staff at the college. At every point in my study I felt I was being encouraged to view a full range of perspectives.
