Dementia is a significant social issue of the 21st century. Thirty years ago, a Church of England report referred to a ‘tacit exclusion’ of persons with dementia from congregations. With current understandings of the challenges, what response to dementia is called for by Christian leaders and congregations?
This seminar asks the ‘Why? Who? and How?’ of a pastoral response, addressing theological foundations for caring, the emotional and spiritual needs of persons on the dementia journey (both those forgetting and those caring), and ways of offering support.
