Hinduism is one of the world's oldest living organized religions. It is a name given to the religious, cultural, social, political and philosophical systems which make up the totality of the Hindu way of life. It has no single founder, no centrally organised priesthood and no fixed dogmas. It represents instead countless mystics and thinkers over thousands of years. Although Hinduism originates from India and is the dominant religion of this country, today, Hindu communities are found in almost every country on earth including Australia. Therefore, it is important for Christians to learn more about this ancient religion and understand its way of life. This seminar provides an introduction to Hinduism, focusing on some of its major and popular doctrines and explores how Christians can relate to their Hindu neighbours.
